Brother Roy H. Bale Building Trades Steamfitter Book #137312 Brother Bale was born August 7th, 1950 and passed August 22nd, 2020 at 70 years old after a long fight with mesothelioma. Brother Bale was initiated into UA Local 296 as an apprentice on January 8th, 1970 and turned out as a Building Trades Journeyman on December 16th, 1974. Brother Bale retired from the trade on September 1st, 2012 after 45 years in the trade. During the early years of his career, Brother Bale served on the local negotiating committee. He was a General Foreman, Foreman, Job Steward during his years of service. Brother Bale, although battling cancer, played an instrumental role in the fight for workers right when he testified before the Idaho legislature about the effect of asbestos on workers. His testimony helped kill a bill that would have reduced workers’ rights to fair compensation and health care when diagnosed with mesothelioma or exposed to asbestos. It was a tremendous win for the workers! Brother Bale enjoyed the outdoors, Boise State Football and traveling with his wife Peggy. Brother Bale will be missed but remembered. Thank you, Brother Bale, for all you have done for UA Local 296. |
